ABOUT THE CONCERT

American composer Bryan M. Wysocki wrote “We Can Learn Me Together” in 2019 for pianist Clare Longendyke and the violin–viola duo Sonic Apricity, for the Alba Music Festival's composition program in Alba, Italy. The title comes from the closing line of a poem by the composer's then-girlfriend, now wife, Jess Willis, written soon after the couple began dating—a candid reflection on the vulnerability of letting another person in. Wysocki translates that emotional openness into music of shared discovery, the instruments feeling their way toward one another and gradually learning to move as one. Heard here in a version for flute, viola and piano, it is an intimate, personal essay in trust and connection.
